Midway Drive-In 900 Free Street, Winston-Salem, NC

Seventy two years ago on May 26, 1953, the Sonney Amusement Enterprises feature SIDE STREETS OF HOLLYWOOD had its first known screening at the Midway Drive-In Theatre in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Later it opened in Los Angeles at the Paris Theatre on June 3, 1953.

In April 1953, exploitation producer Dan Sonney acquired rights from producer Klaytan W. Kirby to his flat 1952 feature A VIRGIN IN HOLLYWOOD. He added an anaglyphic 3-D sequence with the burlesque shorts DANCE OF THE BLONDE SLAVES REVENGE and MADONNA AND HER BUBBLES to create this “new” 3-D feature release - Notes by 3-D Film Archive
