Capitol Picture Theatre Milk Bar 30 Gurwood Street, Wagga Wagga, NSW, c. mid-1930s
In the 1930s some Greek cafés and milk bars were being placed directly into cinema complexes. One was the Capitol Picture Theatre Milk Bar, run by Sam Nomarhis (second from left). The cinema itself was owned by another Greek, John (Jack) Kouvelis, who developed a chain of picture theatres across New South Wales.
The Capitol Picture Theatre ceased operating as a cinema during the 1970s. Following its demolition Woolworths and Coles were constructed on the site.
