The Capitol Theatre was opened on 3rd October 1930. Located on Gurwood Street, close to the corner of Fitzmaurice Street. It was operated by Hoyts Theatres.
Closed as cinema in 1970’s, it has been demolished and Woolworths & Coles stores were built on the site.

It was located on site in which part of the Woolworths and Salmat call centre are on today. I understand it was demolished to make way for Woolworths and Coles supermaket buildings.
