Photograph of the entrance to the Strand Palace Hotel London designed by Oliver Bernard and built during 1930-1931. Bernard, whose career had begun as a theatre and set designer, was contracted in 1930 to re-design the interior of the Stand Palace Hotel and placed Thonet tubular chromed chairs at various points within the glittering foyer and shopping areas. Because of the complexity of the installation Bernard had his own office in the Hotel. The whole of Bernard’s foyer, revolving doors and other items were removed in 1969 with sections now displayed by the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
