The Other Side of Midnight @ The Holiday
Local newspaper ad from the summer of 1977 for “The Other Side of Midnight”. This infamous booking of the notorious box-office bomb by the Mallers-Spirou chain was made worse because they had passed on “Star Wars”, thinking the sci-fi adventure a dud. “Star Wars” eventually played locally at the Southtown Mall General Cinema for 27 weeks. Having learned their lesson, Mallers-Spirou booked the Lucasfilm sequel, “The Empire Strikes Back”, at the Holiday in 1980.
