Was simply the fact that when the drive-in was built, it was leased land from the airport authority. By the late 70’s, Highway I-240 was bumping up against the theatre, and the Airport had been looking to take the land back. There were a few court squabbles over the issue, but the City eventually won.
Today the site is the location of the Fed-ex distribution center for OKC.
