In December 1931 Greater Union signed up to release Australia wide all MGM product for 1932. One exception was that Fullers, now the Sydney St James exhibitors, could pick a dozen Metro titles to screen there. First to open on 26 December 1931 was the comedy “Politics” (1931) featuring Marie Dressler, who was MGM’s top star at the time. (Despite the artwork implication, Laurel and Hardy do not appear in the feature - just in a comedy short as part of the supporting program.)
