Avenue Theatre
After 20 years as a suburban, United Artists theaters rebranded the Avenue as The Guild. The trajectory of The Guild is fairly easy to follow. It started as an bonafide art house for UA. While it had a hit in X-rated “Vixen”, things weren’t clicking and the circuit dropped the theater in 1969. Cinne Arts picked it up in 1970 as its second adult location and had a winner. It played adult films and had live stage shows becoming one of Dallas' most successful adult film venues.
