The relaunch of the Grand as the Avon Theatre was commemorated on August 8, 1941 with “The Shepherd of the Hills.”
Seth G. I am currently trying to replace the historic marquee that was there. There was a small fire in the front corner of the marquee that between the fire and fire dept. extinguishing made it unsafe to hang over the sidewalk. The theater is no longer showing films but now is home to Clinton County Showcase, a live theater organization. CCS is trying to, with a little resistance, replace the old with a replica of what was there with the addition of two 4x8 led screens where the old lettering was. Thank you for your interest in this historic theater. If you have any questions regarding the theater, you can check out the website ccshowcase.com or feel free to contact me here.
Anyone know what happened to the marquee?
Always nice to see a single-screener still in operation!!!

The July 4, 1914, issue of The Moving Picture World said “W. V. Schmidt will be manager of the new Grand moving picture theater which is nearing completion at Breese. The house will seat 450 persons.”
Opened as the Grand Theatre in 1914:

This theatre has begun showing films again. Last week (11/26/2010) they showed Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and the theatre was roughly 2/3 full according to the local paper.
Nice looking small theatre.
The Drive-In Theatre near the intersection of Rt50 and St. Rose road was replaced by the large Breese Journal Building.
