An earlier Rex Theatre operated at a different address opening on June 4, 1920 it the Knights of Pythias Hall. This second Rex Theatre was opened October 24, 1923 with Will Walling in “The Village Blacksmith”. It was operated by W.L. (Walter) Casey who operated the adjacent Amazon Theatre (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures). This was an old theatre with one screen. Showing first run movies and had free kids movie days. It was closed for renovations in 2016. It reopened as the Rex Theatre Tea Co. which closed in April 2019. The vacant building was still standing in November 2021.

Status should be closed/renovating. Phone disconnected, website shows no activity, Facebook page only mentions tea company opening in the building.

W.J. Delong and J.J. Evans opened the first Rex Theater on July 4, 1920 in the 19th Century-buiilt Knights of Pythias Hall. E.J. New took on the venue in January of 1921 to little success. The 313-seat theater wasn’t enough for W.L. Casey who took on the venture and moving the seats and projector to a Reardan, Washington Theater. But Casey wanted to have the Inland Empire’s best theater. He built and opened the town’s second Rex Theatre location opens with Will Walling in “The Village Blacksmith” on October 24, 1923. The theater went on to a great run.
