The KINGS DRIVE-IN THEATRE was located 3 miles west of Hanford on Hwy 198
Motion Picture Daily reported on May 12, 1955 that George Peterson had purchased the Kings Drive-In “at Armona”. So I checked the aerials – the Kings was/is just inside the northern edge of the Armona city limits. CT, please adjust the address.
Dansdriveintheater, I would specify that you should buy popcorn and a drink from the concession stand, since those are typically its highest margin products. But how do I email you to tell you that? You can email me at mkil gore@car load.com.
it was because people kept vandalizing the place! such a shame no drive-in theater etiquette.
here is a list of drive-in theater etitiqute from a word document i made in word please email me if you think of a rule i should add
Daniel’s modern guide to drive-in theater etiquette. !. Always drive 10 mph hours with the headlights on in theater area. 2. Once you park turn off your headlights when parked in the theater area. 3. If the drive-in you visit has speaker poles remove the rca speaker from the stand and put it on your car window and then put the speaker back on the stand so you don’t dent you’re car or break the speaker. If the drive-in theater you go to doesn’t have rca speakers skip this step. 4. If you visit a drive-in with multiple screens do not drive from one theater to the next unless you’ve paid for the other film. If you drive from one theater to the next be careful. 5. Do not sneak people in the trunk. It is illegal and rude. 6. Always check the marquee to see what’s playing before you drive to pay for the film. 7. Always visit the refreshment center. 8. Do not use more than one parking space to park your car. 9. Do not make love in your car. 10. Always have a battery charger in case your car battery dies. 11. Always have a fun memorable experience at the drive-in
also a story from the hanford sentenial about the closure of the drive-in.

The overview is incorrect. I don’t know when the drive-in closed for the season last year. But the link from Aug. 23, 2008 is for Sept. 2005, that’s when 40 Year Old Virgin & Deuce Bigalow came out.
It appears the Kings has closed for good. Drive-ins.com has updated their status to Closed. Last year, there were news reports from the owners about the uncertainty of opening in 2013. Constant vandalism and the high cost of repairs seem to be the culprit. Then there is the massive cost of digital conversion on top of that. I never did make it out here for a night at the Kings drive-in. Only a few daytime visits, and those were depressing enough.
I don’t think they are open this season. Phone line has been disconnected for several months. Went by yesterday and the place looked abandoned. The marquee listed “Taken 2” and “Pitch Perfect”. Those titles are out of date now. I believe that this is the first dark year they have ever had in it’s entire history. I hoped to find a new phone number here. Looks grim for now.
Approx. address for this drive-in is 10511 14th Avenue.
