The Court Theatre was one of the few theatres in New Jersey catering to the African-American audience back in the 1940’s and 1950’s. I remember riding past the place in my dad’s car and seeing the banners across the promotional one-sheets advertising “All colored cast!”
The building was demolished in the mid-1950’s to make parking space for the Essex County Courthouse.
