Albert E. Davis architected the Peerless Theatre launching in the Bronx in 1923 with 600 seats for the N & P Amusement Company. The $50,000 Greek Revival two-story house was bathed in olive green, gold and Pompeii red. The Peerless had Typhoon fans for cooling and Powers 6-B projectors at its opening.

Listed in the American Motion Picture Directory 1914 – 1915 edition as the Peerless Theatre, 314 E. 138th Street, Bronx, NY.

The Film Daily Yearbook’s;1926 and 1927 editions list the Peerless Theatre, 314 E. 138th Street, Bronx, NY with a seating capacity of 286. Obviously the theatre was doubled in size by 1930, possibly by expanding into adjacent properties?

Film Daily Yearbook,1930 lists this as the Peerless Theatre with 562 seats. The 1941 edition has it as the Haven Theatre with 563 seats, as does the 1943 edition, but by then it is listed as closed.

It is not listed in F.D.Y. editions 1950 or 1957.
