The fairly large 995-seat Paramount Theatre and the Odeon Theatre dominated this stretch of Court Street across from Eatons department store and the Post Office in downtown Port Arthur, now the northern half of the city of Thunder Bay. I believe both were in use as recently as the 1980’s.
In 2013, with a reduced seating capacity for 230, the Paramount Theatre screens older movies on a semi-regular basis and also live theatre productions.

The Paramount Theatre on court street is a childrens play centre called wiggles and giggles. The main floor has a large childrens play centre and upstairs on the closed off balcony ius still a small theatre for childrens movies during birthday parties.
This theatre was twinned in 1979; closed in 1999. Screens should be 2.
Here are updated links to the pictures of the theatre as it was in 1948 as originally posted by Chuck1231 on September 27, 2005:

The Paramount Theatre is actually open and thriving right now with the theatre booked for 3 months in advance. Bookings include live performances from local theatre groups and film bookings from private groups such as NOSFA. We are also showing classic and cult movies every sunday or whenever our booking schedule permits.

The Paramount Theatre was designed by architect Jay English. It is on this list of his works simply as: “PORT ARTHUR, ONT., theatre for Famous Players Co., Park Street at Court Street, 1941.”
