Biograph Theater

I found the Biograph Theater mentioned on a NJ history site and I also found a postcard picture of it on another website. The Biograph Theater was opened in 1906. It was closed in 1913 and went over to use as a blouse factory.

By 2018 it was in used as a wedding attire shop, catering to the Spanish population.

good find lostmemory. I should have checked the news link. Do you want to do the honors and add the Laurel/Criterion to the database?

Hi, I see that this thread is very old, but I have information pertaining to the “Biograph” Theatre as seen in the c. 1900 postcard view “Laurel St. Looking North.” I have compared fire insurance maps of the length of Laurel Street from 1896 and 1903. The only theater on Laurel Street on the west side of Laurel Street was the Criterion Theatre which was located at 34 Laurel (at the end of Warren/McCormick) in 1903. It appears that this theater was renovated from the previous Moore’s Opera House which was there in 1896. Let me know if you’d like to see the map images of the theater.
