The Pendleton Theater operated during the WWII era and closed not too long after. It was used by other businesses, including a garden center, before it was purchased and renovated in 1989. It is now the home of the Clemson Little Theatre and Clemson Area Youth Theatre.

The Pendleton Playhouse was damaged by a fire on December 31, 2004, after a 25-year-old intoxicated male driver crashed his car into the side of the theater, causing a fire to both the car and the theater. Members of the Pendleton Fire Department were there on time to put out the flames, and the man was charged with DUI and malicious damage to real property more than $1,000.
