Closed as a mainstream house on February 8, 1981 with “Mountain Family Robinson” and “The Mirror Crack’d”. The Denville reopened as an X-rated theater the following week and lasted for five months before officially closing on June 28, 1981.
As Far as Arial images shown, it seemed some of the theater exteriors have been removed by the mid 1990s, so for now we’ll just pin point the exact time of closure to be either the late 80s or early 90s.
The interior decorating business is gone and the theater is now home to a candy store.
As a kid growing up in Boonton Township, circa 50s and 60s, I saw a lot of movies in this Theater! Lots of memories! I have vivid memories of seeing, The Three Stooges in Orbit,“ in 1962. it was only the 4th full feature film done by the Three Stooges. By this time, it was with Moe Howard, Larry Fine, and Joe DeRita!

The box office and marquee are still intact, though the marquee is covered by the signage for the design firm. Entering inside you can tell it was once a theatre. One of the people working took me in their back room/workshop, which was the front/stage area, and I was able to see pieces of the proscenium.
