Not to be confused with the City Cinema Twin in Coop City, this was located on the City Island section of the Bronx. The Raymond Theatre was opened by 1926 and was still operating in 1957. In the 1960’s it was renamed New City Island Theatre.

The City Island Theater is listed in the Film Daily Yearbook, 1926 edition has having 250 seats. It has disappeared from the listings in the 1930 edition of F.D.Y.

I was there on Saturday. It’s on the right side going away from the bridge and is an IGA. The above picture is in the entranceway, hung up. It’s a beautiful building. It seems once it closed, they stripped away the paint to reveal the beautiful symmetrical features of the stone and red brick building. Much nicer, indeed. Great masonry.
In 1969 this seems to have been known as New City Island
