Mustang Drive-In

The Mustang Drive-In opened in 1957 as the Twi-Lite Drive-In. When Pitts took over the drive-in in 1965, the name was changed to the Mustang Drive-In. This drive-in closed around 1970 and has been demolished.

Approx. address for this drive-in was 430 Remount Road. Now Royal Family Bowling Center.

Boxoffice, Oct. 5, 1957: “FRONT ROYAL, VA. - The new Twi-Lite Drive-In, which opened here recently, is owned and operated by Dan Griffin and Sid Mullins. Opening ceremonies for the new drive-in included a program headed by Mayor Harry I. Wilson and the broadcast of ceremonies over radio station WFTR. Women attending the opening were given orchids.”

A closer address is 430 Remount Rd, Front Royal, VA. As mentioned previously by jwmovies.

By 1984, the drive-in had been demolished. Today, a bowling alley along with a few other businesses occupy the property.

The only hint that the drive-in existed is the trees which form a triangle to the north of the bowling alley. The trees cover the ramps and it retains the outline of that part of the drive-in.
