The Skyvue Drive-In was opened by 1951. It was operated by Lockwood, Gordon & Rosen. Torn down around 1986. Only some of the land was used to build senior housing. The field lights still stand. Was owned by SBC Management. Once had a neon marquee.

Anyone know where exactly this was in Torrington?
It was on Torringford St. I did not see any remnants of the drive-in when I visited the site.
IT was owned in 1956 by SKY-VUE DRIVE-IN THEATRES,INC. And it parked as mentioned above 575 cars.
U.S. 202 & Torringford W St, Torrington, CT 06790
The above address will map accurately to the location of the drive-in.
Here is a 1955 aerial photo of the drive-in, courtesy of HistoricAerials.com.
Above address is incorrect. Approx. address for this drive-in was 350 Torringford West Street. This is further south of Hwy 202.
Looks like the remnants of the entrance road are still there just north of the building that sits on the front of the property. Can’t tell if anything is back behind the building in the mini-woods though.
Boxoffice, Sept. 1, 1951: “Vincent Youmatz, manager of the Sky-Vue Drive-In at Torrington, Conn., gave patrons an opportunity to see themselves on the big screen and helped to boost his business on two separate nights. Youmatz advertised that a professional photographer would be on hand to film early arrivals at the theatre. After the films were processed they were screened, with most folks coming back to see how they looked ‘in pictures.’”
