For several decades during the 50’s and 60’s most military installations had base movie theaters. These were styled after the average neighborhood theater. Excellent projection equipment, well maintained buildings and large screens with track curtains. All movies were first run and released before the local theaters got them. I recall adult ticket prices being .25 or .40 for epic releases. When Dr. Stranglove was released, it was banned on all military bases. What a shock when we had to pay a buck at the local movie house.

Many military base cinemas still exist. Reel Time Theaters is a chain of Army and Air Force base theatres. There are also Navy and Marine Corps theatres, but I can’t find such a page listing these.

In Massachusetts, Hanscom Air Force Base has such a theater. Here’s a photo essay about the Hanscom theater.

Camp Edwards on Cape Cod also reportedly has a movie theatre, which is now available to several hundred hurricane refugees.
