I used to go to Saturday morning pictures from 1955 – 1958 (aged 7-9). Mum gave me a shilling: 6d admission, 3d for a lolly, 1d each way on the trolleybus and 1d for the chewing gum machine. I loved the serials: Flash Gordon, Hopalong Cassidy and I had at least 4 birthdays a year (you got a voucher for free admission next week. I was sad to see it close and saw the changes over the next 30 years or so. What a sad end – like we need another MacDonalds!
