Seems to be in the same state of “reNOvation” as last year or the pics from 2013. At least it is still standing.
Anyone who might remember me e-mail me at: Thank you Kingsville. Brenda K. Collins
Spent many happy hours there. Lots of memories from the theater. Brenda K Collins

Video of proposal @ The Texas Theater: A Proposal…
From the late 1980s a photo of the Texas Theater in Kingsville.
At old 77 and E. Ailsie looks like the remains of a drive-in outline. Barely, barely visible.

1900 block of old Hwy 77 was another drive-in (verfied by Google Earth historical) Big empty lot now.

Also, another drive-in located on E, Santa Gertrudis St, where there is a big empty field now. Also verified.

I was born in Kingsville, and was taken to this theater many times (spent many times in the cry room at the top of the balcony!) As I recall from my later visits in the 60’s, it was quite beautiful inside.
Does anyone have any info on Kingsville’s three drive-ins, all quite active up to at least the mid-60’s?
I believe they were all on old hwy 77 – south of town was the Brahma, and north of town were the King and the El Rancho (Spanish-language movies only).
An architect’s rendering of the proposed Texas Theatre in Kingsville was published in the July 2, 1949, issue of Boxoffice. The Texas Theatre was designed by Jack Corgan.
In the 1960s, Mr.LaNoue was the manager. I believe it was a Hall Industries Theater.
My January 2006 pic….

I saw a painted sign on the corner of this building that said Word Of Truth Church. Not sure if they are currently occupying the building. Did not go up close, but I did take a photo from across the street.
