The Texan theater in Garland was located just southwest of the square. It had wooden theater seats with the aisle down the middle. The Bisbys owned this theater, the Plaza and another theater in Wylie.

This theater was popular in the 50’s. I saw lots of cowboy, sci-fi and comedy movies at this theater.

It’s gone now and was located about where Hubbards Cubbard Cafe was at. Hubbards is also gone and has moved west to 9th street.

The picture shows Garland Saw and Lawnmower. The Texan Theater was not located here. It was located down town, just east of the square, on the south side of Main Street, next to Garland Furniture. I remember the Golden Gloves boxing ring being located there after the theater closed. When you walked in it was a down hill slope (where the seats use to be) to the ring.

Hey guys!

Can anybody out there help me with locating a Garland movie theater that was, I believe, located on O'Banion Rd, just east of Centerville. It was a single screen house on the north side of O'Banion and was log-since shuttered by the summer of 1977.

Cheers,
Gaston
