Royal Theater

Opened as the Lyric Theatre. It was renamed Royal Theater on January 23, 1911. With a blond brick front trimmed with red brick to one set of double door entrance, a small lobby and a quaint 254 seat auditorium. The box office is located in the lobby next to the concession stand. The Royal Theater played first run attractions. It was severely damaged by fire on October 15, 2014.

The Royal is a Community Based Not for Profit theatre. The staff is all volunteer. The theatre dates back to the mid-1920’s. website

Wonderful brick work and simple and nice small town look. Good it is still around.

Status should be closed according to the website. A fire on October 15, 2014 caused major damage to the building.

The Royal Theatre, Main and 2nd Streets, was the only theater listed at Ainsworth in the 1914-1915 American Motion Picture Directory.

Became the Royal Theatre on January 23, 1911 when Shrider Brothers Circuit took on the venue which had been operating as the Lyric. The Lyric nameplate would be used elsewhere.
