Springfield Drive-In

From the Modern Theatre section of the April 10, 1961 issue of Boxoffice. The original caption:

The gayety of a miniature carnival and child’s wonderland is to be found at the Springfield (Mo.) Drive-In Theatre playground. The eight-horse mechanical carousel, complete with caliope music, and the out-of-this world Fiberglas turtle for crawling and sitting, both by Miracle, are fascinating to the drive-in’s youngest patrons. The cartoon-fairyland mural at the base of the screen tower provides the background for the whole playground. The playground, which is free, is opened with the boxoffice and stays open until showtime.
