Six floors with ten apartments were added to the two-story building. Entrance to apartments on left. Former lobby and theatre now retail space.

Featuring plays in 1948 as the New Stage Theatre. By 1950 it is the Bleecker Street Playhouse.

A Rose Theatre shows up in a 1923 Paramount Week ad as located on Bleecker and Thompson. Could this have been the Luxor, Garrick or even an early version of the Bleecker Street Cinema?

Is the theater still intact and can maybe be reopened?

I attended a play here in the mid-70’s entitled “P.S. Your Cat is Dead”. The first two letters should have been “P.U.!!!”

It looks like the former lobby area will be the lobby for some condos they built above the former theatre.

Listed in the Film Daily Yearbook;1926 edition as the Bleeker Theatre, it had been re-named Luxor Theatre by the 1930 edition. Gone from listings in 1950 or even before then.

When I took a look at the building in June 2005 it was in the process of being gutted internally and looked like it could be converted into retail or restaurant use. I will check it out on my next visit to NYC (unless someone gets to it before me!)
