What a tragic remodel to the venerable old Dawn Theatre in Hillsdale. I remember it way back in the 1940’s when we vacationed at nearby Baw Beese Lake. I last remember attending the Dawn in 1955 and saw “We’re No Angels” with Humphrey Bogart. Just up the street in the 1940’s was the small Hill Theatre which showed the really “B” movies on a double feature. I saw “Grissly’s Millions” there in the mid forties along with many “B” (but exciting) cowboy films. Tom
Renovation is well underway for the Dawn Theater now! We’re also trying to put together a more cohesive history and vision of what the theater used to be. If you have any personal memories, photos, stories or information about the Dawn & its history please email it to !
Ran across this link that says Ross Garver once ran the Dawn Theatre.
He was the father-in-law of Scat Davis.
