Kinepolis completes acquisition of American cinema chain Imagine Entertainment

February 12, 2026, 17:45 CET

Kinepolis (Euronext: KIN) has completed the acquisition of the American cinema chain Emagine Entertainment. Kinepolis reached a conditional agreement regarding the acquisition in early November 2025. Now that all conditions have been met, Kinepolis was able to successfully conclude the acquisition process.

With Emagine Entertainment, Kinepolis adds 14 cinemas to its portfolio, totaling 177 screens and 18,000 seats in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Emagine Entertainment welcomes approximately 6 million visitors annually and generates nearly 129 million USD in revenue. The cinemas are equipped with recliner seats and also offer their own Premium Large Format (PLF) under the names EMX (14 screens) and Super EMX (3 screens). EMX combines wall-to-wall screens with 4K laser projection and Dolby Atmos sound, while Super EMX goes a step further with an even larger screen and 64-channel Dolby Atmos sound for a truly immersive cinematic experience.

Emagine Entertainment also provides support services to a chain of cinemas in Minnesota and Colorado, as well as Emagine Woodhaven and The Riviera in Michigan. These cinemas operate under the Emagine brand and are operated by third parties through a trademark licensing agreement.

My communications professor remembers taking his class to see “Good Night and Good Luck” here when it was in first run.

That’s good news. Emagine has done well in taking over moribund properties like the former showboat in Lake Geneva Wisconsin.

The Randall 10 originally opened in 1994. The architects were Paradigm Design, based, like Goodrich Theatres, in Grand Rapids.

Closed March 17, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Goodrich Quality Theatres subsequently ceased operation in bankruptcy. This venue was not picked up immediately by any other circuit remaining inactive / closed.

The IMAX screen is 43'h x 70'w

While the showtime/tickets websites still refer to it as the Randall 16, Goodrich calls it the “Randall 15 IMAX”.

They’ve added D-Box motion seats to a theater.
