Thanks lost i got lazy!lol
Hello everyone. This is Dan with The Moxie. Just to be clear, the building is for sale, not the business. We’re moving three blocks to the East of our current location, and I’ll add a new entry on this site once we’re fully operational. Our old space is already rented, and the new tenant plans on removing all auditorium and booth walls, eliminating the possibility of another theater moving into the space.
Congrats to the Moxie! I grew up in Springfield (60’s and early 70’s). Back then there was no place to see an indie unless one of the chains (Dickinson, Mann ) picked one up. Occasionally you could catch a foreign or classic revival at the Student U. at Southwest Mo State University but that location (the center ballroom) was less than ideal. Next time I’m in Springfield, I hope to check out the Moxie.
This theater moved to 431 S. Jefferson, #108, Springfield, MO 65806 and is now a twin. It is also again for sale, asking price $150,000: View link
This is Dan, the owner of The Moxie. Just to make things clear, this is the first time the business has been for sale. The listing from above (quoting $550,000) was for the building that we used to be located in, not the business.
What a shame to see this for sale. It was so cool the way it was before the big move .I have sent many people to there web site as to show people “how its done”.Over the last 16 months you can see they have lost there fire. The web site was not as cool and they did not keep it up like they use to. I have never been to this theater but have admired it from a far.
See my post July 2006.
Thanks Dan.
It has relocated again to about a block south of the College Station multiplex, on Campbell Avenue, in a new building.
According to their website the theatre is now located at 305 S. Campbell Avenue, Springfield, MO
