The Al Zawra Cinema is one of Baghdad’s first cinemas. It opened at the start of the 20th Century. It has an ornate white facade which is edged in gold paint.
Like many cinemas in Baghdad since the invasion, by 2003 it had been reduced to screening old movies due to lack of prints of newer films. Whether it has survived the violence of recent years is uncertain.
