The Palace Theater opened March 13, 1915 and was designed by architect W.R. Gibb of Chicago, IL. Seating was listed as 764 at the time. In 1948 it was remodeled to the plans of architectural firm Wetherell & Harrison, reopening September 2, 1948. In the early-1990’s it was remodeled in neo-Moderne style and twinned. At the time it was operated by Central States Theatres. The Palace Theatre closed in early-December 1995.

The Boxoffice article Tinseltoes linked to says that the 1949 remodeling of the Palace Theatre was designed by Des Moines architects Wetherill & Harrison.
This PDF of the State Historical Society of Iowa’s Site Inventory Form for the Palace Theatre has one photo of the building’s original front, though it is from an oblique angle. The form also reveals that the reopening following the 1948 remodel took place on September 2. The Palace closed in early December, 1995.
