I believe the designs were Sutton Coldfield’s just rejigged to fit this site. There is much much the same to be a brand new plan.. So Cecil Clevering should be credited

I’ve uploaded 2 photos, but first time they were out of focus,so I tried again, and had a better result, but I’m unable to erase the blurry ones. Is it possible to do so ?

Design is almost identical to the old Odeon building in Newport, S.Wales seen here:

/theaters/3420/

currently being used as a church, give or take the positioning of a few windows & doors.

Photographed as a single screen in the 1960’s. The ‘Odeon’ sign on the left of the building has been removed:

A closer view in March 1989, courtesy of Jeremy Perkins. Note the original ‘Odeon’ signage on the building which has now been removed after ’re-branding' to a more ‘modern’ style:

THE NEW REBRANDED ODEON IS ONE OF THE SMARTEST REBRANDED ODEON,S IN YORKSHIRE. HOWEVER, IT WAS UNFORGIVABLE TO SPLIT THE BALCONY INTO 2 SCREENS THE BALCONY WAS THE ONLY SOLE SURVIVER OF THE TRIPLING DONE BY FORMER OWNER/S RANK. THANKFULLY,THE EXTERIOR REMAINS IN IT/S TRUE ART DECO STYLE.
