News About This Theater
- Mar 9, 2010 — Parkway Cinemas to close in May
This theater is located in a strip mall and was opened by GKC Theatres on May 18, 1990. One of the big draws to this theater was on Tuesdays, when you could bring any size container and they fill it up with popcorn for .50. On April 22, 2005 it was taken over by Carmike Cinemas.
It was closed on May 13, 2010 and demolished in 2013. A LA Fitness gymnasium now operates on the site.

These cinemas closed in early 2010. Carmike – which purchased GKC – didn’t invest much in maintaining the facility so it was no surprise when it closed.
Building is still sitting empty and boarded up. From the front doors, you can still see that the lobby (and concession stand) are still intact. New photo posted today.
Demolished in 2013 and replaced by a LA Fitness.
Parkway Cinemas was opened in the Parkway Shopping Center on a 20-year leasing agreement on May 18, 1990 by George Kerasotes Corporation / GKC Theatres. Carmike Theatre bought the GKC locations on April 22, 2005. Carmike closed at the expiry of that lease on May 13, 2010.
