Located in the Whitney Humanities Center building, this is an inter-school, interdisciplinary student group governed by a joint committee of undergraduate and graduate students devoted to promoting film culture at Yale University.
‘The Cinema at the Whitney’ was started in 2005 by film students working with the Whitney Humanities Center. ‘The Cinema at the Whitney’ student group has now been disbanded, but movies are still screened. It’s technically a repertory theater but shows a broad range of film. They show two films a week during the school year. It is most frequently used by the Yale Film Studies Department, other academic departments at Yale, and the Yale Film Study Center, the film archive at Yale University, which has a large collection of 35mm & 16mm print as well as Blu-Ray and DVD copies.
Open to the public, free of charge, films are presented in 35 mm, Blu-Ray, DVD and other formats.

There’s another similarly free, worldly and semester-bound (not also double features, though) series across town at SCSU.
