State Theatre Seminole, OK...

On the Bowlegs Theatre site the faded photo of the olio curtain shows advertisements for two theaters in Seminole, OK, the State Theatre and Liberty Theatre. The State Theatre was opened on March 7, 1927 with Buster Keaton in “The General”. By 1941 it was operated by the Griffith Amusement Company. The State Theatre was still open in 1957.

The State Theatre launched March 7, 1927 at the height of Seminole’s oil boom with Buster Keaton in “The General” as well as live music from Si Wilk’s Hicksville Band.
