A restaurant is now on the property. Opened in 1949 and was operated by Harris Robinson and Dixie Drive-Ins chain. It had closed by 1955.

It is not listed in my 1956 Motion Picture Almanac, wonder if it closed sooner. 75 cars is downright small for a city the size of Savannah.
This was a really good drive in restaurant with free movies in the back. They had hanging speakers plus telephone polls on the ground to sit outside. Showed mostly B westerns.
It was located next to the famous Johnny Harris Restaurant.
The approximate location for this drive in was 1800 E Victory. IHOP is where the entrance was located.
This was my grandfather, he owned this. His name was J.W. Gaskin. He was an amazing man. I grew up with so many stories of this place and how much he loved it…stories of the “Curb Girls” and so many more. Just the fact that he owned this place and was part of history, amazes me.
In looking at a 1951 aerial photo, it certainly looks like the drive in could hold more than 75 cars. However, it is on the small side. Rough guess: 150 – 200 cars.
Plus, a 1971 aerial photo shows the drive-in looking fairly well kept. It may have been closed for 11 years, but everything was still up and the property mowed.
