This twelve screen multiplex in downtown Kyoto, Japan opened on 23rd November 2001. It is one of very few cinemas in the city area. There are entrances on both sides of a street.

The actual opening date is November 23, 2001. The total capacity is 2,020 seats.
The MOVIX Kyoto building was formerly occupied by two other movie theaters also operated by Shochiku, the Kyoto Roxy Theatre (formerly the Kyotoza) and the Tokiwaza.
