Google maps shows businesses on the even side of the street. The odd side looks to be a park. I can’t tell if the theater still exists.

OK. That’s in the picture, but Google has it at 66 Kearny.

I noticed that. I’m not commenting on the shots that are taken a block away or otherwise are ambiguous.

From both the aeriel and street views there is nothing that looks like a former theatre building – the buildings pposite the park are all quite small – nothing that could have been a 1,.500 seat theatre.

The Hudson Theatre is also listed in the 1927 FDY. The house might have opened in 1926, and it is likely that this item from the November 21, 1925 issue of Exhibitors Trade Review is about the Hudson:

“KEARNY, N. J.

“Archt. W. E. Lehman, 972 Broad st., Newark, N. J. Drawing plans on theatre, stores and offices at 59-69 Kearney ave., Kearney. Owner: Joseph Stern, 207 Market st., Newark, N. J.”
