The Community Drive-In was located near the small town of Mascot in eastern Knox County, Tennessee outside of Knoxville. It was opened in 1951. In 1953 it was renamed Community Skyway Drive-In. In 1967 it was renamed Sky-Way Drive-In. It appears to have been a short lived venture under this name as it closed in November 1967. When I first drove by it in 1972, it had obviously been closed for some time, but the name on the marquee was still legible, and I believe the screen was still standing. It was located on Rutledge Pike (Highway 11W).
Though it has been many years since I drove by the site, I believe the highway was widened and/or re-routed, and pretty much obliterated what was left of the drive-in. One source says the drive in was opened from 1952 until 1975, but it was definitely closed in 1972.

According to the report on drive-in construction in 1952 that appeared on Boxoffice of January 10, 1953, the Community Drive-In at Mascot, Tennessee, had been opened by the Cherokee Amusement Company. Car capacity and date of opening were not given.
The Community Drive-In opened in 1951. In 1953 there was a management change and the name was changed to the Community Skyway Drive-In which operated until 1966. In 1967 there was another management change and the name was changed to Sky-Way Drive-In. In November of 1967 all mention of this drive-in vanished from the local newspapers.
