Open as early as 1949, the Chief Drive-In theatre presented double features during warm summer months. In 1955 it was operated by Video Independent Theatres. It was still open in 1983, but had closed by 1994.

And it was owned in 1956 by Video Circuit.
The Chief is demolished, according to drive-ins.com. Here is a small photo:

The Chief was located just to the north of town, on the east side of N. Main Street, at the intersection of Vantage Drive. The back rows of the drive-in and overall footprint are still clearly visible using Google Earth, although some kind of long rectangular building is on top of the front section of the drive-in.
Approx. address for this drive-in was 2005 North Main Street. Days Inn sits on part of the theatre. Vantage Dr. runs through the property.
According to the 1973 city directory of Cleburne, the address was 1824 N Main. The Chief was still open at that time.
Does anyone have any information about the Sonic Drive In? It was located at 606 N Main. It was listed in the 1973 Cleburne city directory.
I remember this drive-in from the late 70s/early 80s. I saw Smokey and the Bandit there and later on watched a double feature of Excalibur and Clash of the Titans.
Sonic Drive-In is still at 606 N Main.
The long rectangular building is the American Inn and there’s a Mexican restaurant next to it on the lot.
Still open in 1983, but demolished by 1994.
