The Bijou Theatre was owned by the Conkey family. In 1918, it was purchased from the Conkey’s by the Cleland family who operated it as the Bijou Theatre, and later changed the name to Colonial Theatre.

It was sold to the Rialto chain of theatres in 1937, and was renamed Rialto Theatre. It was closed in 1965.

It stood on Lawe Street at Wisconsin Avenue, not far from the Fox River.

Here is an item from Moving Picture World of May 4, 1918: “Kaukauna, Wis.—The Conkey-Cleland Bijou theater has been opened to the public with motion pictures.”
