When I was a student at UCLA, I got a job there as a projectionist back in the seventies. I had an occasion to run “Straw Dogs” and “The Ballad of Cable Hogue” for Sam Peckinpah using and being entrusted with his personal 35mm prints.
As the Bing Theatre was part of the original LACMA complex, it would be the work of the original architect, William Pereira.
Operating at LACMA since May of 1965 at least.

Thank you all for the links. The good news certainly didn’t travel as fast as the bad, that’s for sure. But what a relief. For now.

Save film group to meet with man in charge. There’s even a Save film facebook group. View link
Definitely a big fuss when this was announced. I haven’t seen any films here, which is sad as that oppprtunity may soon be gone. There always seems ti be a parking problem around the museum area.
Last week, the museum announced they would cease the weekend film series. Then, community members expressed shock. Now, better news that donors may save the ongoing films at the museum!
