The Century Cinema is situated in Mei Foo Sun Chuen on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong.
It opened to business on 27th September 1974, in the newly developed Mei Foo Sun Chuen–a private housing estate built from the site of an oil storage area.
The cinema is in the podium of a high-rise residential building, with the spacious lobby and 1,725-seat auditorium on the ground floor.
In 1994, the cinema underwent renovation, with the stalls converted into a supermarket, and the balcony rebuilt as a mini cinema with 400 seats. The lobby and ticket booth of the new cinema was relocated to the second floor of the theatre building.
It showed first-run English language and Chinese dialect films since its opening.
The Century Cinema was closed on 16th April 2010.

Century is located near the area I used to live. It was one of the widest cinema in Hong Kong with 52 seats in a row. The only rival was the giant Paris in Sun Po Kong.
By the way, Raymond, can you do a page for Ocean in TST, my favourite.
Is it true that Century is to be demolished after some 36 years of service?
The Century Cinema closed on 16th April, 2010.
The whole site, including the supermarket on the ground floor (used to be the stall auditorium) is currently under massive renovation. It has been run under the InterContinental for showing foreign films when it opened. Century changed management to Newport and started showing Cantonese films until its closure.
Chinese name:影都戲院.
