In January 2008, I bought this theatre and am hoping to bring it back to life. I would like to have both live entertainment and movies at the theatre.
It opened in the 1941 and was closed in 1983.
In early-2010, it was in use as a Christian Youth Centre.

The Park Theatre is currently up for sale (Oct 2008) and is devoid of any plumbing fixtures, hydro, and seats. Although the building has been negelected for far too long, the architectural integrity still remains and would be a pleasure to restore. The mechanical and electrical upgrades may be costly, but would be well worth it.
A group of local citizens, including myself, along with support from local businesses and committees, are interested in purchasing the property with the intent to return it to its original state. The intended use would be for communty activities and events, mainly focused around live performing arts (i.e. music and stage plays). We are currently seeking communty aupport, and expect to launch a community fundraiser in the near future. We embrace any support that can be offered to assist us in our endeavours.

The Park theatre was constructed in 1941 by the the Toronto based 20th Century Theatres chain and operated by them for most of its existence.

The structure formerly known as the Park theatre has now been reopened as some sort of Christian based youth centre.
I believe the correct status of this former movie house is simply Closed, not Closed/Restoring. As a long time Cinema Treasures member, I feel that any theatre that’s been turned into a supermarket, bowling alley or anything else has not been “restored.”
The Old Park Theatre was purchased in 2009 by Rose City Kids Ministry. Was renovated and opened in March 2010 to run Saturday programs for “at risk” children living in the city of Welland. www.rosecitykids.com
