Listed in the 1914-1915 edition of American Motion Picture Directory as the Opera House. It became the Valatie Theatre in 1921. The 300 seat movie theatre was listed in the 1941 edition of Film Daily Yearbook as (Closed), but reopened by 1943. It closed as a movie theatre in around 1971.
It was renovated in 2008 and now has live performances and movies.

My friend Dave’s father was one of the owners of this theater in the early 1970’s. He had his thirteenth birthday party at the theater. Most of our parents were a little upset by the movie choice – Easy Rider.
The Valatie was a Carl H. Nilman Theatre,Owner was also General mgr.Had several screens in NEW ENGLAND.
