It is possible that this originally opened prior to 1926 as the Strand Theatre. The Lester Theatre was opened by the Lincolnton Amusement Co. in 1942. It was part of the Miller Circuit in the early-1960’s and closed in the mid-1960’s. It became a live theatre in 1969. By 1975 it was in retail use and has now been converted into office space.

The shell of the Lester still stand howbeit the interior has been gutted and transformed into office space. The full address should read 301 East Main Street, Cherryville, NC. Here is a 2010 shot of what remains of the theatre: Lester Theatre
Opened 1942 by the Lincolnton Amusement Co. Named after a respected local doctor, Lemuel Lester Self, whose widow was involved in the operation of the theater. Closed sometime mid ‘60s, then became the home of a local theater company in 1969. Retail by 1975. (Info from NRHP listing)
