The Lakeside Theatre opened with one screen in December 1970. In 1981, two more screens were added. The theatre closed in early-2006 but re-opened in October of that year.
The original Screen 1 was destroyed by a tornado on April 15, 2012. The theatre was taken over by the Mitchell Theatres chain in September 2012 and became a 6-screen theatre.
