Starlite Drive-In

The Starlite Drive-In was opened in the late-1950’s. It was closed by the early-1980’s. The ticket booth and marquee are still standing but the screen and projection/concession buildings have been demolished. Capacity was around 200 cars.

It would have been a lot easier to restore if the VFW Hall hadn’t expanded into the old viewing field.

You can see the problem in drone footage from June 2017: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URvwIlHKsZc

whitley97, if you’re still interested five years later, Google’s June 2016 Street View showed a for sale sign by 4M Realty, phone number 210.342.4242.

Already closed by the early-1980s. However, the screen and the projection booth is still standing in the 1983 and 1986 aerial views, but the traces are faded in both shots.

A slightly closer address is 1020 FM78, Schertz, TX.

Google Maps has updated their addresses and this puts it right on the foundation of the projector booth/concession stand.

A November 2024 Google Street View shows a sign that promises a Car Wash will be constructed on the property. But as of that date, most of the property is still untouched.

You can barely make out the outline & ramps along with the foundation of the projection booth/concession stand. The ticket booth stood until sometime between May 2022 and January 2023 when it was demolished.

The only things left standing as of November 2024 are the marquee and the screen, which is in pretty bad shape.
