Photo and article added from the August 2, 1992 Charlotte Observer. It confirms the tiny piggy back theater added in the former balcony. Today’s google street view shows this theater intact, marquee and all, but deteriorating.
I was hoping someone could verify some info for me. There was an old-school theater in Lenoir like this one that was in operation in the early 90s – the balcony was half converted into the world’s smallest auditorium (I believe it was to show art films) next to a very limited view, narrow balcony. Is this the theater?
Hi cptdon. There is a post on Caldwell Heritage Museum’s Facebook page asking this…
“Is there anyway I could purchase a copy of a movie that was made in Lenoir in the early 1940’s. It used to show as a pre-show at the Center Theatre in Lenoir. It was about a girl that was kidnapped. I think it was called "My Gang” or possibly “Kidnapped”
Any chance you could help with any information about this please?
Don, I would love to see any pictures you have from that time.
I worked at and ran This theatre from 1995-2000 and if I can find some picture I will post them here. Tough memories…
Are there any interior photos available?
Theatre opened 3 March 1941.
